Handybar Support Handle, Get in and out of your vehicle easily!

Use Handybar to help you get in and out of your car. Just insert Handybar into the U-shaped striker of the door frame of almost any vehicle, and use it as a handle to get in or out of your car. Handybar helps the elderly, people recovering from injury or surgery, and anybody that needs a little lift.

Handybar also helps protect your family because it can also be used as a side window breaker and seatbelt cutter, in the event of emergency.

How Does It Work?

The Handybar inserts into the U-shaped striker plate on your vehicle door frame. The U-shaped striker plate is one of the strongest parts of the vehicle and is designed to keep your vehicle door closed in the event of a side-impact collision. There is a striker on each of the vehicle's door pillars allowing the Handybar to be used on both driver and passenger side-doors. The Handybar is suitable for individuals weighing up to 350 lbs.

Reaching for the Handybar

Insert the Handybar into the U-shaped striker plate located on the driver and passenger-side door frames of the vehicle. Once inserted, use the
Handybar to support your weight as you move yourself in and out of the vehicle.
Remove the Handybar before you close the vehicle door.
Ensure your vehicle has two bolts or screws attaching the striker to the door frame. If your vehicle has a light switch in the striker, be sure the Handybar does not interfere with its operation.

The Handybar Is Dandy to Get In and Out of Your Vehicle! The average North American gets in and out his or her car 4 times each day. If you are one of the 35 million over age 65, 60 million suffering from chronic arthritis or temporary injury, or the annual four million pregnant women, a hand to help you in or out of the car may be critical. A new product called Handybar provides that critical security to anyone getting in and out of todays lower cars and higher SUVs. Handybar works by inserting its engineered tip end into the striker the high impact, U-shaped piece of door hardware attached to the door pillar of your vehicle. The US Code of Federal Regulations 571.206 established the striker to hold a minimum of 1136 kg or 2,500 lbs. When placed in the striker, Handybar serves as a support handle right where you need it! Handybar fits in nearly every make and model of vehicle. No special installation is required. They say necessity is the mother of invention and that's how Ian Stewart President of Avenue Innovations, developed the Handybar, said Darryl Adrian, Vice President of Sales for Avenue Innovations, Inc., the manufacturer of Handybar. After knee surgery Ian found it almost impossible to get in and out of his car. Looking for an affordable solution and realizing there was none, Ian developed the Handybar. After showing his idea to others he knew it could help millions of permanent and temporarily mobility-challenged people around. Handybars sub-frame is made with a high quality alloy; it was selected because of its strength and durability, and an ergonomically designed non-slip grip for comfort and security. Weighing just less than 1 lb., and only 9 long, Handybar is lightweight and compact; it can be stored in the door pocket, glove compartment or carried in a purse. The Handybars simplicity and effectiveness have stunned the worldwide marketplace. In just two years, Handybar has won best new product at three different trade shows the National Hardware Show in Chicago; Med Trade in New Orleans; and Med Trade West in Las Vegas and sold more than 100,000 units. Handybar is a convenient aid for all vehicle occupants and is available in many retail stores. Quite often, the elderly help each other in and out of their cars, Adrian explained. Frequently, the helper ends up hurting themselves in the process. Handybar can lessen the risk of potential injury for both. Because doors damaged in a car accident often can't be opened, the Handybars tip end design allows you to break a side-window to escape your vehicle. In addition, because seatbelt buckles may jam or not able to be reached after functioning to hold the occupant in place during an accident, Handybar also features an integrated seatbelt cutter in order to free oneself or other passengers.
